I hate when my children are sick. It always makes me feel like I failed or something because they looks so weak and feel horrible. So I always feel like I have to make their sick day one of the most enjoyable days they can have while being sick, especially since both my boys love school. Here are some things I make sure to do while my boys are home sick.
- Offer Tea or Hot Chocolate– This is one of the things I enjoy when I’m sick and I know the boys love hot chocolate. Sometimes a hot mug makes you feel better just because its warm.
- Make the couch a make-shift bed– I don’t always let the boys lay on the couch. However, we also don’t allow televisions in their rooms. So when Noah is up in the middle of the night because he can’t breathe, I know its easier for him to sit up on the couch and watch TV until he falls asleep.
- Turn on one of their favorite movies– This is a must. Especially when they are missing school. Doing something that they love helps curb the sadness of missing school. Frozen is one of our favorites!
- Prepare their favorite soup for lunch– This is kind of like the hot chocolate one. Soup always makes me feel better and I know for a fact that it makes Hayden feel better as well.
- Naptime is required– Hayden is old enough to not take a nap. However, when you are sick, you also feel run down. Although he doesn’t like it, Hayden (along with Noah) takes a nap when they are home sick. They always wake up refreshed.
- Treat a cold with Children’s Mucinex– I hadn’t used Children’s Mucinex before now because the boys don’t get sick that much thankfully. This over the counter medication covers a stuffy nose, cough, chest congestion and breaks up mucus. It helped Hayden right away and he loved the berry flavor.
- Snuggles and kisses all the way– This is a must. I don’t know about you, but a hug and a kiss from my mom always makes me feel better.
I love making my child’s sick day better for them including giving them the medication they need. For more information on Children’s Mucinex, you can head to their website, or follow them on Facebook and Twitter. You can also print a $2 coupon here.
