Spring break is coming up and isn’t everyone excited about it?
Not only does it mark the end of Winter (because I am ready for that to be over) but it always means the last stretch to this school year. Hayden is finishing up 6th grade and Noah is finishing 2nd grade so a road trip to get our heads back for the moment will be fun.
While a lot of people have spring break during March, this year, we have spring break in the second half of April which means warmer weather (hopefully). So, we can’t wait for a road trip to wake us up and get us out of our heads for a little while.
Think about the journey, not the destination
I have a big problem with this. On long trips, all you can think about is how long you’ll be in the car and when you can stop to take breaks. What you should be doing is being on the lookout for fun things to do on the way. This doesn’t mean you need to plan a trip to an amusement park on the way (although that would be awesome!), it means check out the doll museum that you saw 3 signs for before the exit came up. That could be a fun break!
Do a Car Check
Point 1 of a road trip: Make sure your car is in tip-top shape. Especially if you are taking a long trip. Get an oil change and have them do a once-over on your car. That way, if anything is wrong you can have it fixed right away and not have to worry.
Don’t stress about the spending
Make a plan before you leave. Maybe have a certain amount put away for each day. Research restaurants on the way and get gift cards. Then, plan again. I always make sure we have extra money put away for something fun that we might not have thought of. Make sure it is fun and no stressful.
Have fun
Above all, have fun. Plan some activities in the car and outside. Love on each other and be safe! That’s all it comes down to.
