There are a number of ways in which parents can contribute to their child’s school, including getting to know their child’s teachers, organizing fundraising events and helping to coach sports teams.

Research has shown that children with involved parents often do better in school, avoid drug and alcohol abuse later in life, and manage to stay out of trouble. They are also much more likely to succeed in their chosen career. Here are some of the main ways you can contribute to, and support, your child’s school:
Participate in Fundraisers
Almost all schools have fundraising events during the academic school year. Getting involved with these events is a brilliant way to contribute to your child’s school. To get involved, simply contact your child’s school to find out how you can help.
Donate
If you can, donating is a brilliant way of contributing to, and supporting, your child’s school. Most schools gratefully accept donations from parents who want to help. People who donate or leave a proportion of their estate to the Visitation School will become a member of the DeChantal Foundation, for example. This foundation recognizes and honors the generosity of people who donate money to them. Donating can help schools afford resources, offer extracurricular activities, and employ members of staff that they otherwise would be unable to. This will not only help your child succeed, but it will also help other children in the school succeed too.
Attend Parent-Teacher Meetings
One brilliant way you can get to know your child’s teacher and show them that you’re interested in your child’s education is by attending parent-teacher meetings. These meetings allow you to find out first-hand what your child is learning in the classroom. When you know what your child is learning, you’ll be able to support them better.
Volunteer
If you’re wanting to contribute to your child’s school, volunteering in the classroom is a brilliant idea. Whether you choose to volunteer as a helper in a classroom, help out on school trips, or help out at school events like “career day” is up to you. To find out how you can volunteer in your child’s school you will need to contact them. It’s important to remember that volunteering guidelines vary between districts and schools.
Stay in Touch
Parent-teacher meetings aren’t the only way you can stay in touch with your child’s teacher. One of the best ways to stay in touch with them is by email, but there are also other options, like a phone call or letter. Staying in contact with your child’s school will not only show them that you’re interested in your child’s education, but it will also allow you to address any concerns or worries you (or they) may have.
There are lots of ways parents can help to support their child’s school, from volunteering on school trips to donating money or leaving money in your will. However you choose to contribute, they’re likely to be extremely grateful.
