My husband and I had the chance to see a screening of The Lone Ranger last week thanks to Disney. It was sort of a date night since I wouldn’t want either of my boys to see a movie rates PG-13 without me seeing it first. So my mother in law watched the boys while we headed out. How much do you know about the movie? Well, here are the basics.
An American Indian spirit warrior, Tonto (Depp), recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice. The two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
First of all, I had no idea how long the movie was. It was long. The running time says 149 minutes so be sure you plan accordingly. Here’s the thing though, I think they needed that time to protray everything that was shown. I don’t think the movie would have been the same if anything had been cut out. However, we loved the movie. It was action packed and has something for everyone. I’ve never been a “western” type of movie go-er but the movie definitely kept my attention.
If you know me at all, you know I’m a huge Johnny Depp fan. He is great at putting himself right into the character so much that you don’t even know its him. So he was perfect for the role of Tonto. I also believe that Armie Hammer put himself in the the role of “The Lone Ranger” and he did a wonderful job. Still unsure whether or not you should see it, check out this trailer that captures some of the amazing scenes:
