I had 3 different feeding experiences with all 3 of my children.
With Hayden, I only breastfed for 2 weeks. Why did I stop? Not your normal reasons. My grandfather died when Hayden was 10 days old. We traveled home for the funeral and the stress and sadness weighed so heavy on me that I just couldn’t keep going. I’m happy to have been around family but I do wish I could have breastfed longer.
Noah was a little bit different. He was breastfed for almost 8 months. I returned back to work after 11 weeks at home and was able to have a great supply built up and also able to pump while at work. The hospital was completely supportive when it came to it. I stopped because my supply was low and my at home pump broke down during a long weekend. I think he actually made it to 9 months before going completely to formula.
Olivia was in between both boys. Although I was home with her, I never really established a feeding pattern or was comfortable enough for her to feed when hungry (because she wasn’t gaining weight at first) so we stopped just after 6 months. I loved every minute though.
You know what I needed each and every time I needed help with feeding?
Someone who understood what I was going through and could talk me through it. I got that help but I felt I couldn’t find anything online. Now, there is a resource that can help you through it whether you are breastfeeding or using formula. Take a look at the Happy Family Infant feeding platform!
The Happy Family Infant feeding platform is a place where you can find resources and chat live with the Happy Mama Milk Mentors support for their questions on infant nutrition! I mean, they even have a lactation line!
