Being a mother is difficult. Time management is also difficult and when you are juggling raising a child as well as a job, you may feel burned out often and without having any time for yourself. Planning and prioritizing may help but life can still be busy and you want to prepare and plan way ahead of time to avoid getting stressed or feeling as if you have not completed what you want to complete. It’s tricky.

Learn some of the basics, can you reheat baby formula? Can you let your child eat bananas? Is it safe to leave your baby alone for a moment? These are burning questions and soon you will find a routine that works but it can take time and effort. Here are some tips to get you a little more in the zone when it comes to efficiency as a mother:
1. Be proactive physically and mentally: Get support for yourself and your children and don’t be afraid to ask for it as we all need a helping hand and this will really benefit you. This includes counseling, social outlets, and child care, if you can afford it this will greatly help. Be proactive and know that people are always there to help you.
2. Create a positive vision on a mood board or in your mind: Take control of your life and develop a clear picture of where you are heading. Decide what your values are for raising your children and start with setting three goals that are meaningful to you. Keep in mind that it can take up to a month to see any change.
3. Prioritize: Don’t worry about all the small stuff and keep the focus on spending time with your kids and positive relationships as these will keep you grounded and happy. Enjoy doing things away from the kids too but working out what needs to be done first will always help you with being proactive also.
You may plan things in your diary and feel that you are unable to follow through as you haven’t finished everything. Time management is important because you can set yourself goals to finish something in a certain amount of time or to dedicate an hour or a certain day to do another task and this can really help. Don’t be upset though if you feel that you are unable to get things done. Don’t put unnecessary pressures on yourself as this will hinder you and you must feel in control.
Being a mother is tricky and it’s emotional too and there are plenty of things for you to worry about but that’s why taking care of yourself first will help. Eat well, sleep well if you can and have a good system around you. Good people and help if you need it. Join groups online and in your community to ensure that you always have a team of people you can chat with or ask advice. It will greatly assist you in the long run.
