It has been a week since I’ve started my “get back to fit” challenge. I’ll call it a challenge because I’m not quite sure what my plan in. I want to lose weight however, there are other things that are more important to me than dieting, paying attention to calories (all the time) and working out 5 times a week.
There are some things I learned about myself this week (or relearned) that I wanted to share. Not only will it help me stay on my path, but it could help someone else going through the same thing.
Was it Time
It was time for me to start this challenge for myself. However, I don’t want people to confuse the fact that I started back in January having anything to do with the new year or a resolution. I’ve been working on being my best me for a while but working out wasn’t fitting into my schedule towards the end of the year. With the new school calendar and managing my time better, I should be able to keep a 3-4 day work out schedule without losing time on other things.
What about diet?
I’m not on any specific diet. Yes, NutriSystem helped me so much but my goal isn’t as large as before. I also know exactly what I need to do to lose weight. With that being said, I’m more on a relaxed diet than anything at all. While I’m watching what I eat, I’m not counting calories and I’m not buying a ton out of my normal shopping experience. I know I tend to overeat so snacking rather than eating 3 huge meals is the plan. And I can already tell that I am eating better for myself based on the way my body is reacting.
I also haven’t fully completed my plan with the help of products from this company. We ordered protein last week which should be here tomorrow. I’ve been making myself eat breakfast (i never eat breakfast) which I will replace with a shake or smoothie depending on my workout plan for the day. A protein shake everyday is the plan as a snack. But I still have a ways to go.
Where do I work out?
I have a gym membership to Lifetime Fitness. Unless I’m working out with my husband, most of the time I take a class. I’m slowly getting back into that because I was taking some high intensity classes there for a while and then just stopped. Yoga at least once a week is lovely. If you didn’t know, yoga is a great class to take.
I also love hip hop classes. While my gym has classes there, I love to go outside of class. I’m debating on also having a membership to another place for those classes but it depends on our budget for the year. I’ll probably give an update on instagram when I figure out what to do.
Would I workout at home?
If I have to, yes. However, I know I won’t have the motivation I need to do a full workout at home by myself. I am self aware enough to know that I will probably cheat my way through a workout if I do it by myself. Not sure why.. But I know I’ll do better with people watching, with a push from a friend or family behind me. Once it warms outside, that may chance. I loved walking/running the trail by my house with Olivia in the stroller and would go 3 miles at least each time.
I will definitely learn more about myself over the next couple of weeks. Once I get into a rhythm, expect an update. And follow along with me. Maybe hit me up and meet me. We can workout together.
