10 Fun Things to Do During the Holiday Season

November 19, 2021 by Ashley T

The holiday season is a time for family and friends to gather together. It’s also a time for traditions that everyone looks forward to year-round. Whether you’re hosting Christmas at your house or traveling abroad, there are many fun things that you can do during this festive holiday! In this blog post, we will share ten ways to have the best holiday ever!

1. Make a Gingerbread House with your Family

Baking is one of the best pastimes during the holidays, and no one can deny that a gingerbread house is the best dessert during Christmas time.

You don’t have to be a baking expert – there are kits you can buy that include everything from the pre-made dough, icing, candy decorations, and more! All of your family members will enjoy decorating their own houses together. Watching those adorable cartoon movies while eating a sweet treat is the best way to spend your holiday!

2. Decorate the Outside of your Home for Christmas

Putting up Christmas decorations is one of the best feelings, especially when they’re in your own house. Whether you want to make it snow or put reindeer outside, everyone will appreciate the effort that went into decorating your home for their arrival!

You can use lights and garlands around windows or even place candles underneath a wreath hanging on the front door. There are so many fun ways to decorate your house during Christmas, and it’s sure to be a topic of conversation when everyone arrives!

3. Watch Holiday Movies Together as a Family

There’s nothing better than spending time with your family, and what could be more important during Christmas? Watching holiday movies as a family is something that everyone will enjoy.

The classics like “A Charlie Brown Christmas” or “It’s A Wonderful Life” are always great options to watch together around the holidays because they remind us of those we love and bring back memories from our childhoods. The next time you’re with your family, try watching a holiday movie together and reminiscing!

4. Surprise the Family with a Winter Vacation

You don’t have to spend the holidays at home! You can always surprise your family members with a winter vacation. Amongst the many options for gifts for 11 year old boys, a fun vacation is definitely a favorite gift!

Some ideas include skiing in Aspen, Colorado, or visiting Disneyland for New Year’s Eve. Just make sure that everyone is on board, and you’ll enjoy this fun holiday activity together! The best part about surprising your family is that you’ll be able to see the joy on their faces when they realize that you’re all together during this time!

5. Have a Snowball Fight with Friends or Neighbors

It might be cold outside, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the holiday season. A fun way to spend your time is having a snowball fight with friends!

Make sure everyone brings gloves, hats, and scarves – it’s not only great exercise but also makes for some good memories! You’ll get to laugh about all of your holiday mishaps while enjoying a good snowball fight. It’s the perfect way to get rid of all that stress during wintertime! No snow? Go throw a frisbee!

6. Create New Traditions that are Meaningful to You and your Family

Traditions are a big part of the holiday season, and it’s wonderful to be able to create new ones with your loved ones!

You don’t have to stick to tradition – think about what would make you happy during this time. Maybe it means going on a ski trip every year or trying out different restaurants in your area. You can even create a new tradition that is meaningful to you and your family!

7. Send Funny Holiday Cards to Friends and Family

Holiday cards are an important tradition during the holidays, but they can also be fun! Think about sending some humorous or silly ones to your loved ones.

There’s no better way to brighten someone’s day than with a good laugh; you’ll make their whole month when they open up their mailbox and find a fun card from you!

8. Volunteer During the Holidays

During this special time of year, why not help others? You can donate to a charity or volunteer at your local soup kitchen. Any kind gesture goes a long way and will make you feel great about yourself too! Spending time with people in need during the holiday season is sure to put things into perspective for everyone involved.

9. Cook a Delicious Holiday Meal for Friends or Family

There is nothing more wonderful than cooking your favorite Christmas dishes during this time of year! Try out some new recipes with your loved ones and get everyone involved in the process. You can host a dinner party or celebrate at home – either way; you’ll have lots of fun while bonding over food that’s sure to be delicious!

10. Go Caroling with Neighbors or Friends

There’s nothing better than spreading holiday cheer! Head out to your neighborhood and sing some Christmas carols together. You’ll get all of the good feels when you see a smile on someone’s face in return for singing a song. It’s sure to be a topic of conversation when everyone arrives!
