4 Reasons to Avoid Buying Cheap Kitchen Appliances

May 7, 2020 by Ashley T

When you flick through the appliance section of an electronics or home store, you might notice that the price range of kitchen appliances can be incredibly wide. A refrigerator can cost anywhere between $100 to well over $4,000, especially if you go with a modern smart appliance from a reputable brand. But when does it make sense to spend so much money on a kitchen appliance? Is it ever going to be worth it, or is it just a luxury item for rich folks to show off when their friends come around?

To be honest, broken oven repair costs a fortune and we can’t really recommend spending thousands of dollars on something like a fridge but a freestanding wine cooler is worth it. We understand that it can come with cutting-edge technology such as a screen on the door to order food, but it’s not the most practical thing especially for the amount of money you pay. However, we also won’t suggest buying the cheapest thing possible–and that’s what we’ll be discussing in this article. While both extremes are bad, we’re going to try to convince you not to go for the cheapest kitchen appliances and explain why you should be spending a bit more money.

1. Cheap appliances don’t last very long

A cheap kitchen appliance isn’t going to last very long. They’re made with cheap components which means they get worn out very easily. Don’t be surprised when that cheap appliance you buy breaks down in just a few weeks and needs to be replaced again. After a few replacements, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t just go for the more expensive option that would last longer and ultimately save you money!

2. Cheap kitchen appliances aren’t worth repairing

If you’re going to buy a cheap microwave then keep in mind that it’s better to replace it than repair it if it ever breaks. Not only are cheap kitchen appliances hard to get into and repair, but the components they use aren’t going to last very long and the repair isn’t going to be worth it. If your washing machine needs to be fixed you can hop over to here to get experts to have a look and recommend what needs to be done.

3. Reputable brands come with better service

Most reputable brands will offer better service with their appliances. This can include longer warranty periods or extended support if you’re having trouble. You’ll also find more services that offer repairs and maintenance for well-known appliances. This means you can find an LG appliance repair specialist to help maintain and fix your appliances instead of relying on a general electrician that may or may not know how to repair your broken kitchen appliance. This offers plenty of peace of mind and is well worth the added cost.

4. Better appliances mean better experience

Whether it’s having more control over your coffee machine or more cutting options with your blender, a more expensive appliance will typically offer more options, resulting in a far better experience.

To conclude, no–you don’t need an expensive fridge but at the same time, you should definitely avoid buying cheap kitchen appliances. If you’re serious about buying a product that can last long, be repaired and also function reliably, it’s worth every penny to invest in something a little more expensive.
