Top 5 myths about buying a new car

February 2, 2017 by Ashley T

The average person purchases a car every couple of years. Personally, I like to keep my cars until they die on me. However, I’m always looking for that car that I think I’m gonna love more than the one I have. We always feel like we need to do a ton of research and gear yourself up for a visit to a dealership but that isn’t always true. So before you head to Browning DCJR, check out these top 5 myths about buying a new car.

myths about buying a new car

You have to get your car serviced at the dealership you bought it from.

We happen to live less than a mile from where we bought our car so we take it there to get it serviced. However, you don’t have to. Take it to where it makes sense. You may find you like another dealership better.

Special ordering your vehicle will cost you more money.

Sometimes, special ordering can save you money! Plus, you get exactly what you want. So, if you can wait a couple week for the car of your dreams, then do it!

You should wait until the end of the month to buy your new car.

Yes, the dealership will have target goals to make by the end of the month. However, you won’t know if they made them or not. So you may not get an extra deal just because they are trying to make their target goal.

A lower price or payment means you got a better deal.

Try not to focus on the numbers (the price of the car, the monthly payment, interest rate, etc). Make sure you look at the whole deal and not just one of the numbers. You may want to keep a low monthly payment but be paying for it somewhere else in interest or the number of months you’re paying.

Paying cash will get you a better price.

This isn’t always true. While some companies offer a special discount for paying in cash, the dealership will make more money if you lease or finance. So you may get a better deal signing up for those payments.
