If you have a family, safety is one of the first things you look for when looking for a car. I currently need the space for a car seat and a booster, plus my older son. So, with the need for space also comes the importance of making sure the car has some safety features. I’m always searching dealerships like Don Vance looking for those perfect safety features. Make sure you check the list below.

Traction Control
No one understands how important Traction Control is until you start sliding going 70 miles per hour. In no way is it fun. The system limits wheel spin during acceleration so that the drive wheels have maximum traction. These limits keep you safe.
LATCH
The LATCH system is used to “latch” the car seats into the car. Did you know that it is mandatory to have the LATCH system in every car? Our booster doesn’t need to be latched but latching Olivia’s car seat makes it the seat much more secure for her.
Antilock Brakes
Yes, every car now has Antilock Brakes (ABS). It is very important to know what this means for your car. Before ABS, your brakes could lock on you making you slide instead of stopping. At a high speed, it could be dangerous.
Back-Up Camera
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that it would require all automobiles sold in the United States built beginning in May 2018 to include backup cameras. I am thankful because it is one of the best safety features in cars right now. This will help eliminate accidents and running over things left in the driveway and street.
Safety Belts
We know safety belts are in every car right now but the point is to use them. They save lives every day. Not just yours, but your children and family. I love how the belts lock in place so no one goes flying when you have to slam on the brakes.
