Whether you currently have a pet or you are planning on getting one, at some point you’ll need to put this pet in your car. We have a dog and at first, we didn’t think about what the dog could do to our cars when traveling. Mostly, she is only in the car for trips to the vet and back but sometimes we take her to a dog park. Here are some tips to keep your car pet-friendly.

Assign one area of the car
You can use a crate or restraint to make sure the fir and dirt in one area of the car instead of all over. It also makes sure that you have room for other things, like your children.
Covers work great
Investing in a seat cover that is easily removable will help keep the car clean as well. Having one that is easily removable helps with cleaning. This way, you can throw it right into the washing machine without spreading the hair.
Plan Ahead
Planning on buying a car? Buy a car with leather or vinyl seats that are easier for wiping. I would also plan on buying heavy duty floor mats to protect the carpet for quick and easy clean up. Check with the dealership for these types of things so you are already prepared.
Get Rid of the Odor
Animals can leave a smell in the car so clean the car whenever you can. Some odors will be eliminated by vacuuming or otherwise removing the hair from the car interior and floor mats, and washing seat covers or blankets. If the smell lingers, sprinkle baking soda on the floor and cloth seats. Let it sit overnight and vacuum it in the morning.
Be Prepared
Put together a kit to keep in your car for cleaning, including things like paper towels, wipes, a carpet cleaner, and plastic bags. You never know when you’ll need them, anything can come in handy! Carry a Runball in case you make a stop to unwind.
