I feel like a bad mom by saying this but… we have never had a first aid kit. Yep, never. I had bandages and antiseptic but I think that’s about it. In my defense, my oldest never did anything that caused any major trouble and if it did, we went to the urgent care 5 minutes away. That happened twice. He needed stitches.
Now with 2 boys who are bound to get into some real trouble, especially my youngest, we decided it was time to get a kit together and make sure we had everything we needed to get the job done. I didn’t know what goes into a first aid kit, so I did some research first. But I knew that by going to Sam’s Club, I should find everything I needed in one spot.
Noah and I checked out the first aid area in the store and the first thing we saw were the Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages. It was a huge box filled with 180 bandages in it. It came with touch strips, which include the new QUILTVENT® Technology. Buying them at Sam’s Club has th added value as buying in bulk often does. Noah was excited about the Winnie the Pooh bandages inside!
Anyway, they had some pre-made sets of first aid kits which I thought were prefect, however, I had to make it my own. I got the box of Bandages, the first aid kit, and some Member’s mark Alcohols swabs just in case there weren’t enough in the kit. Noah and I also did some house shopping, including some lawn bags and fruit snacks! Hayden and Noah love fruit snacks.
After getting everything home, I separated the first aid kit on the table to check out what we needed in our own personal kit. I also bought Neosporin for the kit so I no longer needed the antibiotic ointment that came with the kit. But there was so much else in the kit that I didn’t even think about.
The first thing that I made sure to add was the BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages with QUILTVENT® Technology. The BAND-AID® box included 5 different boxes of bandages including the basic flexible fabric bandages and a couple boxes of the Bandages with QUILTVENT® Technology. Since it was about time to change the bandage on Hayden’s hand from falling on the pavement, it was a great time to show off the “quilts” on the new bandages. The ones trained in Brampton’s cpr training centre will have good knowledge on first aid equipment and are prepared for emergencies at all times.
We are so happy to have our First Aid Kit up to date complete with Band-Aid brand bandages. To get my full photo story as I shopped the products and put together the kit, check out my google+ story. You can also check out BAND-AID® Brand Facebook page.

Having a household first aid kit is important. I used to have one and I should get the stuff together for a new one. Thanks for the reminder!
what a great idea – and I love the new quilted banaids.. thank you
I love Band Aid Brand and Neosporin. Both are in my first aid kit, but I should go and make sure that everything is updated and that we have what we need. I agree that having a first aid kit a good idea for EVERY family…thanks for sharing!
Excellent tips!!!
Wow, that is a lot of supplies! But with two boys you should definitely get some use out of it–but with nothing too serious, fingers crossed! We don’t have a designated first aid kit, as handy as that would be, but under the sink in our downstairs bathroom we have so many different types of bandages, antiseptic ointments, and other products to fix cuts and scrapes that I think we’re pretty covered for most accidents with my two stepdaughters. Thanks for the tips!
That is such a great idea. We love the new bandaids. They are awesome!
What a great kit that you put together! You aren’t going to need more stuff for awhile!
