I’m not surprised that eletric cars have become more and more part of the norm in the United States. At one point, no one new how much a charge could hold a car, let alone get them where they needed to go day in and day out. Now, there are charging stations at my local mall. I find that kind of awesome.
When looking into an electric car, you do have to make a decision: Do you want an all electric car or a Hybrid? Kenny Habul – one of the leading sports car drivers, spoke about the benefits of using electric cars and introducing them into our day-to-day lives.
The BMW i3 is has an all-electric motor that provides incredible torque, even from a standstill. All you do is push a button and its really to go. The new i3 gives you 170 horsepower and with a 3 hour full charge, you can go upto 100 miles. With the range extender, it could take you up to 160-180 miles per charge.
You can also take a look at the BMW i8. While it is a totally beautiful car, it is not an ordinary sports car. It is considered a plug-in hybrid, meaning you can charge it but it also uses gas. This sports car has 362 horsepower and only takes 1 and a half hours to charge. Here is the kicker: It gets up to 94 mpg fuel efficiency which beats any gas car out there.
Given the choice between the i3 and the i8, which would you choose?
