We’ve all been there: You decide where you want your payments to be and what type of car you want. You may even know exactly what you want before you head to the dealership. Matter of fact, you know that Roseville Chrysler has exactly what you want. The deal is made and happily, you walk to your new car excited you got exactly what you want.
But did you remember to budget for the added costs?
Buying a car isn’t just signing on that dotted line and bringing the car home. There are other sometimes small purchases you’ll need to make that you should think about before signing.
Insurance: Everyone has to carry insurance on their cars… full coverage if the car is financed. You might get away with not having to make a payment if you trade in a car but always think about that first insurance payment on the purchase. You don’t want to get caught without any money to pay for that.
License plate: This isn’t something that is always done right away but once you get your title, you’ll need to head to your local DMV to get plates. Transferring plates are sometimes cheaper but it is a fee none the less.
Maintainance and repairs: Your car will need to go in for basic maintenance and those services cost. The newer the car, sometimes the less it has to go in but that doesn’t mean it gets any cheaper. My husband’s new car doesn’t need an oil change for 10,000 miles but the cost is high for that oil change as opposed to my car. Thankfully, we paid for the service plan for the first 3 so we have nothing out of pocket. Repairs can’t always be planned for but you try your best.
Of course, you also have to worry about gas especially if you buy a bigger car or new tires if you drive a lot. Just make sure you plan for the smaller things before heading out to get that new to you car!
