On Saturday I was a little bit bored so I decided to look at my stats on my blog and see how I was coming up in the searches. Its interesting to see how people “stumble” upon your blog. One of the searches said “biracial family”. I wasn’t surprised. I mean its listed right at the top of my blog. So I looked around to see where I was listed.
I checked a couple of pages and didn’t see my blog appear so I searched images. An old picture of my husband, Hayden and myself from 2008 popped up on the second page. I smiled and clicked on the link. Imagine my shock when the picture took me to another blog that had no link to me! The blog was about black woman being with white men. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have any problem with someone using a picture of mine with my consent. BUT this blog stole my picture from my blog and labeled it “Ashley and her family” with no link backs to my blog.
Reading into the blog a little bit more, she may have not stolen the picture herself. It says on her new blog (where the picture is also used) that people send her these pictures and if you see a picture of yourself and want it removed to e-mail her. I am torn. Do I e-mail her and ask her to remove the picture.. or do I e-mail her and ask her to tag the picture back to my blog? Or do I just simply let it go? The blog post is from 2008 so its way buried in the archives.
While I deliberate, feel free to check out this blog post done by Rhea at Mommy23Monkeys.com on how to watermark your pictures.
Update: I did decide to e-mail her to get it removed from her blog.
I encourage everyone to watermark your pictures. You never know where they could float to.
