This is a review of a book. I received the book for the review and accepted no other compensation. All opinions are my own.
When is the last time you read a book that you knew would be important for your son or daughter to read while they were growing up? In the last year or so, I’ve been trying to collect them as I go, especially for my daughter. With the times we live in, I wanted to make sure she knew she could make something of herself because of the people who came before her.
So, I am thankful for Queen Girls.
I made sure to read the book before sharing it with Olivia. Sadly, I had never heard of Bessie Coleman. I think it was because of not being interested in flying but I’m not sure. But I love the fairy tale. Showing a child that even if you want something people think you can’t do, doesn’t mean you can’t do it.
“You can do anything you want if you put your HEART into it.”
Every Step would take her closer to her dream.
As I tried to read the book to Olivia, I remembered how old she is. It’s hard to read a book to a 21-month-old. However, we got through half the book because of the pictures. She loved pointing out Bessie, her sisters and her mother as we turned the pages. She also loves to pretend to read. I can’t wait until the first time she reads this book to me.
