Effective Marketing Tips for Your Small Business

December 2, 2021 by Ashley T

Anyone with a business needs to invest in their marketing strategy. Without doing this, you may have the world’s best products, but you are never going to sell them if no one knows about them. Marking is all about getting your name, brand, and products out into the wide world so it can reach your potential customer. A marketing strategy can inform your decisions on when best to post a story and promote a product. It will also help you hone your marketing skills in order to create better and more targeted marketing content going forward.

Know Your Customer

If you want a strong marketing campaign, then you need to develop a deep understanding of your key customer base. That means you have to devote time and resources to investigating your key customer. Look back over your old customer files and start building a picture of who your customer is. Think about many facets such as are they single, married, do they have children, what do they like and dislike, etc. To develop a deeper understanding, use social media, and monitor your competitor’s social media accounts and look at how they position their marketing campaigns. The more in-depth your knowledge of your core customer base, the more targeted to the people most likely to use your product your marketing material will be.

Align Material with your Values

If you haven’t developed your brand philosophy with core values, ethics, etc., then you need to do this. It needs to be hard-hitting and relevant to your customer base. Think about your target customers’ likes and dislikes and how this can be incorporated in your brand philosophy. Once you have a strong brand, you can use it to underpin all your marketing material. If you get this right, you will hit a nerve with your customer, and they will be compelled to buy from you. And keep using you into the future. Use your website to showcase your brand, and create a brand narrative, and a creation story that people can connect with.

Customer Engagement

Developing a strategy that allows you to engage with your customers in a social context is essential. It is a soft approach to getting your brand values, products and building trust and loyalty. You can do this online using social media. Any post that you create that is commented on, make sure you respond as soon as possible. Use every contact to show the world something new about your brand and tie this into products you may be developing. You can get out into the local community and build customer engagement that way. Get in touch with the organizers of local events and request to be involved. You could hold a talk or run a stall where you can showcase your products and services and maybe demonstrate something. Remember to hand out some free merchandise with your logo on it. You can pick things up from places such as 4allpromos. The more useful the freebie, the more likely they are to use it and remember you fondly.
