Moving homes is challenging enough but when you have a family to cater for and little ones that are part of the moving process, it can seem even more daunting and stressful. But it doesn’t need to be. Although you may have lots on your to-do list to get through, you can try and make the move as stress-free as possible.

Write a To-Do List
The first thing you should do is sit down at your leisure and write out a list of tasks that you need to get through. Getting your thoughts down on paper can help you identify what needs to be done and where to begin. It can also be quite therapeutic too. Then you can simply cross off each completed task from your list as you go through them.
Register Your Children at New School
It is also going to be a brand new chapter for your children as well, so you will need to make sure that you register them at their new school in plenty of time. This will also enable your children to process the move as well if they know which school or nursery they will be attending once you have relocated to the new house.
Sort Through Possessions
Now, this is the most time-consuming part, sorting through all your possessions. Over the years you will have accumulated a lot of clothes, particularly if you have lived at your current home for quite some time. Grouping the items into different categories will help you establish what you want to do with each one. So you could have one section for charity, one for listing online, one for recycling, and the last one for things you want to keep. You could get your children involved in this especially when you are sorting through their toys, books, and clothes.
Hire A Removal Company
There is only so much you can fit in the back of the car when you have children. So it will be useful to hire a removal company to help you shift the heavy items of furniture. Also when you are in the midst of long distance moving you want to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible. Getting a professional company to help you out will make the move a lot less stressful when they can take care of the majority of your personal possessions.
Get a Babysitter For The Little Ones
If you have really young children it might be worthwhile sending them to friends or family during the build-up to the move. It will be a lot less stressful for them and enable you to get through the packing and unpacking as quickly as possible. It will also be less distracting for you as they will have someone to play with and organize mealtimes for them whilst you are busy organizing paperwork, making phone calls, and packing up boxes.
