Yesterday, I got the wonderful chance to go to the opening of the Live showing of “How to Train your Dragon Live Spectacular”. If you want to know more about the show and the tour, check out my preview post here.
My husband and I were so excited about the show that we decided not to tell Hayden or Noah what we were getting ready to see when we went. Once we were inside the Schottenstein Center, we let them know and Hayden was totally geeked. Noah.. since he’s 2, he didn’t really care as much. Our seats were awesome by the way.. we got there early enough for us to watch them get all set up.. and watch a guy get lifted into the track that held the dragons.
Once the show started, both boys got quiet. Noah wanted to stand up until the opening act, which scared him. We met Hiccup and he told us about where he lives and who he is. Once you saw the fighting with the dragons, Noah spent the rest of the show on my lap. It scared him a little so he needed mommy’s touch. Hayden however was in awe of the show. His favorite word? Wow! He said that often.
My favorite part was the artistry during the show. They used the back wall to show everything and the colors came out perfect. You could see Hiccup drawing and everything showed up on the back wall. It didn’t matter where you were sitting, you could see all the pictures from every angel. Next came the dragons. I can’t believe how much detail went into making those dragons and how easily they moved. Plus they were huge! Hayden’s favorite dragon was Nadder! He had spikes on his back and scared all the dragon fighters in training. I thought Hayden would be scared of the show because he has been in the past. He wasn’t scared at all. Even Noah didn’t seem as scared while he was sitting on my lap.
We did have some technically difficulties during our show. But what show doesn’t? We happened to be down for about an hour though, which pushed back the show. We had to miss the second half because my son had school today.. there was no way we could stay until 10pm. We were all a little upset that we had to leave but technical difficulties happen and are unavoidable. What we did get to see of the show was awesome and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
