I added Green Chef to my meal planning

March 20, 2017 by Ashley T

I received this product for free from Moms Meet, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my honest opinion on my blog. The opinions posted are my own.

This year has been one of slow change for me. I’ve been working on updating my family’s diet, slowly introducing them to different meals. Mainly because sometimes I’m sure that Olivia eats healthier than we do. I’ve also been on a journey of weight loss myself so anything to help our (and especially my) diet will help. This is why I was super excited to try Green Chef.

Yes, Green Chef is one of those places that will mail you meals to prepare yourself (or as a family). The difference is that everything from Green Chef is organic. Green Chef is an USDA-certified organic meal kit delivery service. Everything is included in your package and already pre-portioned, pre-measured, and prepped.

As a mom of 3 with a full-time working husband who is also finishing his last semester in school, it is completely important to me to spend as little time going crazy in the kitchen. Especially when he isn’t going to be home until 10pm. This was my main concern with doing something like this. I love Green Chef’s answer:

Family Plan dinners are ready in about 30-45 minutes. Each family recipe is designed with prep and hands-on cooking at the start. This frees up time while dinner finishes cooking in the oven or on the stove, so you can help the kids with homework, sort the mail, teach the dog how to sit, whatever!

I unboxed everything:

First of all, I am thankful that each meal was only 35 mins from start to finish. That didn’t keep me in the kitchen forever! With a 17-month-old, it was kind of hard to cut and chop and prep what I needed to but as long as I could keep her somewhat busy, the way it is prepped for it works! Believe that.

The first meal I made was the BBQ chicken. It included sweet potato fries and cabbage & green apple slaw. So delicious! The chicken and sweet potatoes were cooked to perfection. My husband and children loved the slaw (I don’t like slaw). The directions are perfect. I felt like I didn’t have the chance to miss anything because everything was spelled out on the back. Check out how close my food looked to the photo supplied with the meal.

Now on to the Greek Pasta & Meatballs. Also super easy to follow the directions although it was a little harder to distinguish the parsley, rosemary, and Thyme. This meal was also completed in 35 mins and ready to eat. This one was a harder sell for the boys. Because it was greek pasta, they didn’t like it. They loved the meatballs. My husband and I enjoyed the pasta, though. I have to admit, it was a different taste which is why it was harder for the boys to like it.

Overall, we enjoyed the meals that were sent and would totally use them again to help me plan meals during the week. Want to get started? Head to the website to start to place your order. Choose from Omnivore, Paleo, Vegan, or Gluten-free meals and set it up. Let me know if you do!
