Sometimes you get a car and are so excited about this new thing that you aren’t thinking about the future. If you are like me, you are thinking this car would love to spend some time with you. Or, you just want to make sure you keep your car looking (and acting) it’s best until you are ready to trade it in. Either way, here are some ways to extend the life of your car.
Make fewer short trips
You may not know this, but during a short trip, your car doesn’t have the chance to reach its optimal temperature for running which can be hard on the car, especially if its done over and over. Plan your trips accordingly so that the car has a chance to warm up and stay warm for as long as possible.
Drive Gently
Pushing your car more than its normal limits.. even just accelerating could hurt your car. Driving your car gently can help keep the engine and major parts of the car running as it should be as long as possible. I know it isn’t possible to drive gently all the time… but the less you push it, the longer it will last.
Maintenance: Always keep up with your schedule
It is so important to maintain your car. You can do this yourself or keep it up with the service center at the dealership. They specialize in knowing about your make and model because they sold it. However, it is really up to you. Just keep up with the schedule. This, of course, includes getting your oil changed as often as needed. Don’t forget.
If you are unable to purchase things for your car that are new, make sure you check out Car Junk Yards near you for the parts.
Get your problems checked as early as you can
Letting something fester isn’t always good for your car. If the check engine light comes on, if a tire is low, even if you just run out of washer fluid. Take care of it as soon as you can. Have you ever been driving 65 on the highway with a dirty windshield and realized you were out of fluid? I have. Not fun.
Follow these rules and you’ll be able to keep your car running for you as long as you want.
