Knowing Your Gear: 4 Key Things to Look for When Getting Paintball Pods

June 16, 2020 by Ashley T

Paintball can be a fun sport, but you always want that extra edge to win all your games. Knowing what paintball pods are best will help you get that leg up so that you’re constantly taking down your opponents without getting hit. Rather than a fun, there is devilbiss spray gun that can help you paint your car or any surface effortlessly.

So what should you be looking for in paintball pods?

Having Easy Access to Ammo

When looking for paintball pods, speed is an important factor to look into. You don’t want to waste a lot of time loading your pods, as that will give your opponents more opportunities to get their shots in.

What you’re going to want to look for are paintball pods that are very user-friendly. Look for pods that are easy to open but don’t open too early. If that happens, then all of the paint will be emitted and you’re less likely to hit your target, or even leave a mark.

Robust Pods

Look for paintball pods that are durable. Flimsy pods will disintegrate on being fired, resulting in you completely missing your targets. Flimsy pods are likely to be less expensive, but they will definitely cost you the game.

The majority of paintball pods are made of plastic, but you don’t want ones that will shatter on impact. This can be especially troubling if you keep them on a harness; any scrape or bump when you’re trying to get behind cover, and your pods will explode all over you. Paying for the more expensive, durable pods will definitely save you in the game.

Ammo Capacity

Getting the right number of pods is a balancing exercise. You don’t want to buy too many that you get laden down with extra weight or you can’t carry them all on your harness. But you also don’t want to be caught with too few or else you’ll run out of ammunition real fast.

For reference, a single pod will hold about 140 paintballs, which is enough for most beginner players. But if you enjoy firing for much longer and ensuring that you hit more targets, then carrying a few more pods with you can be very beneficial. Alternatively, you could buy pods that have more paintballs in them. It all depends on what kind of player you are.

Size Matters

Not all paintball pods are made the same. Some are structurally different than others, so one brand may fit into your harness while another does not. Some pods may not even work with certain paintball guns if they’re the wrong size.

Instead, you have to try them out before purchasing to see what works best for you. Don’t just purchase blindly; you could end up with paintball pods that you can never use.

Paintball is a fun sport, but it can really set people apart in terms of skill levels. But you can up your game with a little research and the right purchases to set yourself apart from the rest. Don’t let those more experience players get the best of you when you have the right paintball pods only our side.
