Love food? Visit Butler County!

June 30, 2017 by Ashley T

My husband and I went on a weekend trip arranged by the Butler County Visitor’s Bureau in Butler County Ohio. Most of our trip was included. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.

One of my favorite things about taking a vacation (whether big or small) is eating. I have a special appreciation for food that isn’t like what we eat at home. Meaning, I cook a lot and we only tend to experiment on vacation or special occasions. Even when planning to travel within Ohio, the Butler County Visitor’s Bureau can give you plenty of ideas on where to get the perfect meal.

Beware! This post is very photo heavy. We ate!

Our first stop was Top Golf. Our actual golf game will be covered in another post, however, we got the chance to try out some of the food. Paul had a full lunch and I just had a snack but they were both delicious.

I ordered the signature Nachos without jalapenos and added steak. Lots of cheese and tons of flavor! I could have used a little more sour cream however, it wasn’t good for my diet so it was plenty.

Paul ordered the sunrise burger, which included bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. This was completed with an order of tater tots. The burger was cooked medium but he said it was more medium well. It was great though.

Saturday

For lunch Saturday, we ate at Kona Grill. We both love sushi so this was a perfect stop. It was located just outside of our hotel in Liberty Center Mall (in Liberty Township, OH). The restaurant is beautiful and we had the chance to eat on the second floor almost outside.

I had the Shrimp and Lobster roll: lobster & habanero cream cheese, cucumber, shrimp, citrus aioli, and cucumber salsa. This was actually considered 400 calories or less. It was wonderful with a little bit of lite soy sauce.

Paul ordered the tuna & king crab naruto with a couple of octopus sushi (not pictured). While he isn’t a huge fan of cucumbers, he did like them. They don’t quite work with chopsticks though. Our waiter recommended the carrot cake which my husband could not turn down. I ate a couple bites (as I love carrot cake as well) and this homemade cake was delicious! I mean, moist and perfect. Don’t worry, I’m told carrot cake counts as a vegetable, right?

Dinner

For dinner Saturday night, we went to Stone Creek Dining Company in West Chester. This is an upscale restaurant that offers children’s menus as well. So you could have a really nice date night or a family meal all in one place. We decided that we wanted one private meal during our weekend so there isn’t any video of photos at this restaurant.

I ordered the 6oz Filet Mignon with grilled asparagus and loaded potato wedges. The steak medium and it was perfect. I mean, it was the most delicious steak I’ve had in a while. The sides were great and I completed the meal with a yummy glass of Moscato. Paul had the 12oz New York Strip with Baby Spinach & Mushrooms and loaded potato wedges. He also ordered his steak medium. He liked his steak but decided he should have ordered mine after tasting mine.

Sunday

I’m all about brunch and have a delicious breakfast spot at home we frequent every once in a while. Now, when I’m in Hamilton OH, I have another place to stop in. We had brunch at High St Cafe. At first site, I knew it would be a perfect family restaurant for us to have breakfast.

Butler County
I’ve recently gotten into loving eggs benedict. These were no exception. The sauce was delicious and complemented the egg and ham. I had the choice of homestyle potatoes or fruit.

Paul ordered the traditional breakfast. This included 2 eggs, homestyle potatoes and a choice of bacon, ham or sausage. You also get an English muffin. He was a clean plater (as they say). He loved every bite.

The only thing we missed out on was the pizza served at Jimco’s Riverside pizza. He was short staffed so since he had to go with us Kayaking, we missed out. No big deal though, we will be sure to stop by next time we’re in the area.

Make sure to head to the Butler County Visitor’s Bureau to help plan your trip to Butler County. You won’t regret it! If you want to know about the fun, check out our trip post.

Also, don’t miss my husband’s Youtube vlogs from the weekend!
