So, you and your family are headed out on a road trip. How much fun will that be! Before you leave, there are some things that you should do before leaving the house to guarantee your trip doesn’t have extra distractions. Don’t forget these tips to help make this trip a successful one.

Be prepared
Do your best to think of anything that you may want or need for this trip. Include the kids if you need to. They may have things they want to bring or do while everyone is on the road. Brainstorm, then move on to the next spot.
Make a list; Check it twice
Write down everything you need to do before you leave. That includes a grocery list, cleaning out the car and maybe even something for yourself. Taking a family trip can be stressful so being prepared is the best way to take the stress away.
Get that oil change
One of the best times to get an oil change is right before you head out on a road trip. Most of the time, the trip will take you over your next mileage point so doing it before you leave to make sure you don’t have to take it in while your away. Taking it to your dealership can make sure they check over the whole car. You don’t want anything happening while you’re away that you could have prevented.
Clean out your car
I don’t know about you but my car always looks a mess when we get back from a road trip. So, cleaning before you head out helps you keep it less messy. Then, try and pull out any trash everytime you stop.
Make sure that you have anything for an emergency
Plan an emergency kit for your truck: for both the car and in case of any cuts and scraps on the way. I always make sure there is also some spare change in the car in case of a low tire.
Keep the Kids Busy
This one isn’t always easy. Everyone likes something different. I like to let each child pick something to take along with them on the trip. Maybe include tablets for extremely fussy times. But once they die, that’s it. They need to take in the road trip as well.
Make a list, check it twice and have fun. Make sure you and your family have the best time on your road trip. Then, come back and tell me all about it!
