Recipe: Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies

June 20, 2014 by Ashley T

Everyone has their own recipe for chocolate chip cookies. I mean, everyone loves these timeless cookies their own way. I know I do. It took me a while to figure out how to make them they way that I like them.

I started out with the Toll House recipe. Everyone knows that one right? But I could never get my cookies to turn out the way I like them. They ended up too puffy and not at all chewy. So I went back to buying the pre made dough… which I hated but I did it.. for a long time. I got tired of using store bought dough and went back to trying to figure out what I liked in a cookie. I found a post by Handle the Heat called The Ultimate Guide to Chocolate Chip Cookies. I got the chance to see what the cookies looked like if you eliminated different ingredients. So I tried the one that identified with me the best.. and it worked! Here is my recipe, let me know what you think!

  • 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons packed light sugar
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 large egg

Put dough into fridge for about 4 hours to cool. Roll spoonful into balls and add the the cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the bottom of the cookie is golden brown. Cool for 2 minutes before removing.
