We are a couple of months away from making a decision about purchasing a new car. I’ve been saying for a while that the plan is to get an SUV and it is very needed. Our oldest is almost as tall as me (at 12!) and our other 2 aren’t too far behind.
We’ve made a shortlist of cars to test drive in the spring so we can make our decision and surprise! The Volkswagen Atlas is on the list. I have to tell you, it wouldn’t even be in my thoughts if we didn’t already own a Volkswagen. But my husband may have won me over.
What is it that draws me into the Atlas?

I prefer the captain seats; which would seat 7. However, even if we get the 8 seater, there is plenty of room to seat adults and kids alike. If I don’t need all that space for people, folding down the seats gives me space for anything I might need to fit. It has 96.8 cubic feet of cargo space with both the second and third-row folded down.
We love the warranty. With the VW Atlas, you get 6 years or 72,000 miles (whichever comes first). Just an FYI: the warranty is transferrable if you sell it before it ends. This is helpful if you plan on purchasing a used one.
Last but not least, I like how there are a lot of items that come standard.
- Blindspot monitor
- Smartphone integration
- 4-door keyless access
- Full LED headlights
- Heated front seats
- Headed side mirrors
- Roof Rails
We love the idea of having things already included then having to choose things and adding up the costs. I mean, yes, the captain seats cost more… but some things are just things we want.
If you hadn’t had the chance to check out the Volkswagen Atlas, make sure you do. This SUV may surprise you.
