This is a sponsored post brought to you by the Athens County Visitors Bureau. All opinions are my own.
We love to take family trips. Traveling is something we love to do although we don’t get to do it as often as we’d like. We don’t live far from a lot of wonderful places to visit so we decided to take a day trip to Athens County, OH. Athens is home to Ohio University and the 30-mile meal. Matter of fact, we did Brewed at the bikeway last year and loved it. So, we decided to take the kids.
But what is there to do in Athens County for kids?
Athens Farmers Market
Uptown Athens / Court Street
Some of the places we stopped in were:
- Cross Court Cards & Gifts
- Little Professor Book Center
- Import House
- Blue Eagle Music
- Athens Underground
- Bluetique
Court Street Diner
The Ridges Nature Trail Stair Climb
I think this was the most fascinating part of our day. You start at the bottom of a wooden staircase. Climb up that staircase to a large open area that is beautiful. It is the start of the Ridges Trail and shows three cemeteries that were used with the Athens Insane Asylum.
Dairy Barn Arts Center
We had a tour of the beautiful Dairy Barn Arts Center and I have so much to share with that, so I’ll share it next week in another post. Make sure to check back!
Little Fish Brewing Company
I covered Little Fish in my previous post but we had to make sure to come back. They have a play area for the kids and a picnic area with a food truck! We got there just in time for an outdoor concert.
Whit’s Frozen Custard
We couldn’t leave Athens without Stopping at Whit’s Frozen Custard. We had run out of time for dinner so ice cream before the ride home was a must. The kids chose exactly what they wanted and so did my husband and I.
There is something for everyone in Athens County. Make sure you take the time to check it out!
