Time for a hair update! #naturalhair

February 21, 2014 by Ashley T

Ok, so its been almost 2 and a half years since I decided not to relax my hair anymore. I tried to update as often as possible but sometimes I just forget! Anyway, I’m finally getting into my element… loving my hair, learning new things and trying out new products. I started using Giovonni’s direct leave-in conditioner and love it! I just put it under and other products I’m using and it helps keep my hair soft. I also still love Shea Moisture products. The moisture milk gets used almost everyday.. its kind of crazy.

I know I’ve talked about coloring my hair before and had a conversation with someone about whether or not my hair is still considered natural because I’ve colored it. My answer: Yes. Just because I changed the color, doesn’t mean I’ve changed the curl pattern or anything. Plus, there are tons of natural hair ladies that have colored their hair and I love it. So I did it and loved it.. but wanted something different. So I picked up a box of lighener and a box of (almost) black and took the plunge. This is the first time I’m posting a picture of my her color and I hope you guys love it!

I can’t really tell you what color it is… light brown? dirty blond? I don’t think its that light but its only the top. The sides and back are back to my orginal color. I love it so much! You don’t even know. However, my hair is very light and goes out instead of down if I just wear it curly so I have yet to see how it looks if I were to just put some gel in it and go.

I also find it very hard to show off my curls. I have really tight curls and anytime I munipulate my hair in anyway (including just adding product) it just makes my hair look puffy. I hate that! I found a youtuber who showed me how to do “shingling”. And that gave me the ability to show off my curls. Check them out below!

I hope you’ve learned to love your hair as I have. I have so much fun with it! Need help with something? Comment below and I’ll try and help (or send you to someone who can!).
