Have a weekend Getaway at Castaway Bay

January 30, 2018 by Ashley T

My family was given an overnight stay with passes to Castaway Bay. No other compensation was given. All opinions are my own.

Winter is the time when I start begging for a get away from Columbus. Don’t get me wrong, I do love Columbus; but I’m not a huge fan of the snow. Yes, I’ve always grown up with snow but sometimes you need a break. My favorite kind of break is a weekend getaway to my favorite indoor waterpark.

Castaway Bay is our favorite spot for a weekend getaway.

Castaway Bay
If you’ve been to Cedar Point, you know what Castaway Bay is close to the causeway. With tons of different types of rooms (to bring the entire family), you can have your own weekend getaway as well. Check out the video below to see more.

We stayed in the Starfish room that sleeps 5. The boys shared a bed and Olivia had her own little bed on the pull-out chair. And she loved it. Her own little bed to herself, it was cute. We arrived about 1:30 and checked in, got our wristbands so we could go straight to the waterpark. The rooms aren’t available for check-in until 4 pm, however, we were lucky our room was ready about 10 mins later!

Everyone got changed and headed to the waterpark to have some fun. First stop is always the wave pool. The boys love it and Olivia does as well. This year is the first year Noah was big enough not to wear a life jacket and he was living it up. He stayed out with Hayden when the waves were going and went crazy.

Once we took Olivia up to the toddler area, Hayden and Noah explored a little bit more. There are plenty of areas for everyone in the family to enjoy. The toddler area has 3 slides, waterfalls and shallow water for toddlers to play in. Hayden and Noah love the Cargo Crossing. I even went down the Tropical Tube Slides with Hayden… haven’t done something like that in a while.

We took a break and headed out for some family activities. They always have cookie decorating for free. You can also color your own souvenir. The kids and I colored our own t-shirts! Paul helped Olivia but you can tell what parts he did, and what Olivia did.

You don’t have to leave the resort to enjoy a meal.

There are places you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We chose Quaker Steak and Lube. I personally think they have delicious boneless wings. We had a small issue with Hayden’s wings. The ones he originally ordered were too spicy, so we asked to exchange them for the regular barbeque. He was given something even spicier than the ones he ordered. We found out later he was given the wrong wings and it was fixed, but he didn’t get to eat with us.

We headed back to the waterpark (after waiting for our food to settle) and had fun until we crashed. Just know, when you stay at the resort, your waterpark passes are good the next day as well.  Take a look at Castaway Bay for your next weekend getaway. You can also get day passes if you don’t have the time to stay the night.
