Why Gaming Is The Perfect Way For Moms To Relax

November 7, 2020 by Ashley T

Having downtime as a mom can feel impossible when juggling a combination of kids, work, and life. But gaming can be the perfect way to relax and enjoy some downtime. Here’s why gaming is the ideal way to relax as a mom.

You Can Enjoy Some Me Time

Playing one of your favorite games is the perfect way to enjoy some time alone. Start a single-player game that you can enjoy and play over several hours, like Fallout 4 or Far Cry. These games are massive world-exploring games that allow you to explore and solve quests, so you can both enjoy some alone time and obtain a sense of achievement when you discover something new or progress to a more challenging level.

You Can Release Frustration

Gaming is the perfect way to release frustration after a long hard day. It can be challenging not to vent in front of the kids – gaming allows you to race and fight in the digital realm. Gaming is proven to reduce stress and boost wellbeing. If you’re stuck at home due to lockdown or even as a new mom, gaming allows you to detach from the physical world around you for a short space of time.

You Can Bond With Your Older Kids

When your kids become teenagers, it might seem like you have nothing to talk about. But playing games with your almost adults could be the perfect way to communicate with each other. If you have eighteen-year-olds, why not trust them with some of the higher-rated games like Grand Theft Auto. You might find you strike up a conversation about the fastest cars in GTA online or race against them in iRacing.

You Will Boost Brainpower

As a mom, you might find your cognitive capabilities dwindling at the end of a busy day with not much sleep. Studies show that gaming boosts brain power, even if you play for a short amount of time. Participants in a study tested higher for spatial awareness, memory, and multitasking. Boost your brainpower with an hour or two of gaming fun when your kids are asleep. It doesn’t matter if it’s a specific brain-boosting puzzle game or an online role-playing game.

Socialize With Friends and Family

Gaming is not just a solitary activity. If you’re struggling to get out and spend time with your fellow adult, why not set up a gaming group and play together, or online? Multiplayer games are perfect for you to enjoy with others. You could even rope in your younger and older generations with a round of Mario Kart. Socialize with your nearest and dearest with some friendly gaming competition. It can also be a great way to find online communities with the same interests as you.

It’s A Chance To Exercise

Gaming doesn’t have to mean sitting in a chair. Consoles like the WiiFit were initially set up for exercise, and these have now evolved into dancing, boxing, and fitness games for the Switch, Kinect for Xbox, and the Move cameras for Playstation 4. Enjoy your favorite exercises from the comfort of your own home by becoming a gamer.

Moms develop some downtime too, and gamer moms are becoming a significant part of a global online community. Whether you enjoy gaming alone, with your kids, or with a group of friends, it’s the perfect opportunity to relax and vent from the comfort of your own home.
