3 Simple Home Upgrades That Are Convenient and Fun!

October 1, 2020 by Ashley T

Families are spending more time at home than ever before. Whether it is to save the money usually spent on day trips, or because of localized lockdowns or social distancing concerns, families are finding themselves at home together much more frequently, and for longer periods of time.

Many people are looking for some simple home upgrades they can make to improve their quality of life while stuck inside. Here is our quick guide to some of the best upgrades you can make to your home to make the time we spend there more convenient, and more fun.

Take Movie Night to the Next Level

Keeping yourself and your little ones entertained can be difficult at the best of times, and during lockdowns and curfews, it can be even harder.

Movie nights, or afternoons, are a great way to keep the family together and enjoy a group activity without asking too much of yourself and your children. All you need is a good film and some popcorn or candy. You can make some simple additions like reclining chairs or a home theater sound system to bring the magic of the movie theater into your living space. You can also use the space to play video games or board games to keep the fun going after the movie ends.

Install a Luxury Refrigerator

One of the easiest upgrades you can make to your home is installing a luxury refrigerator. Having a larger refrigerator that has more functionality can make a huge difference to your home and kitchen.

Look for a larder-type refrigerator that has a tall and deep freezer section so that you can store more frozen food and get a better view of your frozen goods. Rummaging around in a chest freezer or the draws of a traditional refrigerator wastes time and energy.

Get a refrigerator with a water and ice supply built-in. The supply of fresh, filtered water that is chilled to the right temperature is really convenient in the home and can save you money as you will buy less bottled water. The filters do have to be replaced regularly, so check out this handy filter guide to make sure you have replacements ready. The water that is used to make ice is also filtered. These refrigerators not only keep food fresh for all your family but give them access to chilled, filtered water too!

Add Activities to Your Outdoor Spaces

It is easy to stay glued to the couch when you are staying at home, but this is bad for your health and the health of your family. If you have a garden or yard, you should definitely consider adding some activities that the whole family can enjoy to help keep everyone active. A home basketball hoop can be a lot of fun, and everyone in the family can join in a game. Make it a regular competition with some household chores on the line to make it more interesting. Whose turn is it to do the dishes? Find out after a little family game of hoops!

If you do want to make the most of your outdoor space, it is always going to help if you can keep it as well looked after as possible. There are a lot of things that you might want to consider here, but the main goal should be to keep it safe and tidy, so that you and the kids can run around without worrying. Identify the primary potential hazards and then make sure you are doing something about them. For instance, if your area tends to flood, looking into getting linear drainage systems to help with that. Your goal should be to make the garden safe and fun at the same time.

These simple and easy to install additions can add extra fun and convenience to your home, and keep you and your family healthy and entertained during long periods stuck inside. You don’t have to spend much money either to make these simple home upgrades.
