5 Tips To Renovate Your Master Bedroom for a Better Night’s Sleep

December 29, 2021 by Ashley T

While you might spend most of your day around the house or in the office, you actually spend around a third of your life in your bedroom. So, while this is often the last room to be renovated in the house, it is essential to create an environment that is healthy and beneficial for your health. Here are some tips to help you get started with designing your dream master bedroom.

Create a Healthy and Safe Environment

The same principles you applied to create a safer and healthier home apply to your bedroom too. Decorating with natural elements, and letting in plenty of natural light and fresh air can help you increase your indoor air quality and moisture issues such as mold. And don’t forget to look into the best plants to purify your bedroom’s air!

Focus on Lighting and Colors

Color psychology is extremely important when renovating any room in your home. In particular, when choosing the colors and patterns for your bedroom, you should opt for:

  • Rose and blush – inspire peacefulness and quiet
  • Shades of blue – aid rest and sleep
  • Browns and taupe – feel comfortoning and protecting
  • Shades of green – inspire calm, relaxation, and security

Don’t forget to enhance the color scheme of your room with plenty of lighting options, including task lighting, skylights, and vanity lights.

The Right Flooring Can Make All the Difference

Your bedroom should be a place where you can feel comfortable all day and all year round. The kind of flooring you choose does not only help you create the decor you want to have, but it is also essential to improve the whole room’s insulation and temperature.

Wooden flooring or parquet flooring can help you give your master bedroom a welcoming, warm feel – even on a frosty winter morning! For an extra luxurious touch, you might even consider adding underfloor heating!

Opt for a Minimalist Environment (and Wardrobe!)

Choosing a minimalist decor for your bedroom can have endless benefits on your health and wellbeing, including:

  • When staying or sleeping in a cluttered room, you might feel more stressed and anxious
  • Clutter has a negative impact on our cognitive abilities and cause us to require twice as much energy to focus on something
  • Clutter can disrupt your sleep and worsen sleep disorders such as insomnia
  • Minimalism means that there will be fewer things in your bedroom, making it much easier to clean
  • A capsule wardrobe can help you focus on quality rather than quantity

Ultimately, a minimalist house can help you create a safe and healthy living environment for your entire family.

Invest in the Right Mattress and Bed Frame

The bed you choose can have an impact on your sleep quality and levels of restfulness. While it is important to choose furniture that reflects your taste and budget, there are aspects of your bedroom you shouldn’t really skimp on!

Whether you have an old mattress that needs replacing, you have invested in a new bed, or you have just moved into your first family home, it is time to look at new models that have a ton of features including anti-gravity mode!
