6 Layer Brownies

October 25, 2012 by Ashley T

Thank you to  Jaime of Busy Mom on the Go for her recipe she submitted to the site:

“These are delicious. I get more compliments on this recipe than any other dessert recipe I have ever made.”

6 Layer Brownies

Ingredients:

1 box fudge brownie mix

1 package of mini refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough

1 container cream cheese frosting

20 individual caramels, unwrapped

1/3 cup heavy whipping cream

½ package toffee bits

12 ounce package of milk chocolate chips

½ cup peanut butter

Notes: For easier removal of the brownies, line the baking dish with heavy foil, overlapping the handles of the dish. That way when you are ready to cut the brownies into bars, pull up the foil and they will come out easily. Before cutting make sure the foil is peeled down all around the sides.

Directions: Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Prepare brownie mix according to package directions; put in a large baking dish (9 x 13). Pull apart cookie dough and put evenly on top of the brownie batter. Bake according to recipe, adding a little extra time, if needed. After taking the brownie-cookie mixture from the oven, let it cool all the way. Then spread the cream cheese frosting over that layer. In a small saucepan, melt caramels with the heavy cream over low heat until melted. Drizzle caramel sauce on top and spread evenly. Sprinkle with toffee chips. In another small saucepan warm the chocolate chips with peanut butter over low heat until melted. Pour on top of toffee chips and spread evenly. Let cool in the refrigerator for a couple of hours until set. Cut into bars.

You could have had me at 4 layers. With 6, I almost feel like I should be proposing marriage, or something. Yum! Can't wait to try this one out.
