Yesterday was Hayden and Noah’s last day of school. Hayden is headed towards the 3rd grade.. if you live in Ohio, you know what’s an important grade. He has to deal with the Reading OAA. The reading OAA is the Grade 3 Reading Ohio Achievement Assessment. As of this past school year, a student must reach at least a 394 on this test to be able to move on to the 4th grade.
While I’m not extremely worried about him passing this test, I know children who have been left behind because of it. Plus, I love reading! Why not make sure that my love of reading gets passed down to both my boys.

I’m excited to get started tomorrow with both the boys. Visit the Columbus Metropolitan Library for more information about the summer reading club. Don’t live in or near Columbus? Check with your local library and see what programs they’ve started for your children.

I totally participated in the summer reading program growing up in the Columbus area. My best friend & I actually volunteered at our local library one summer & took shifts sitting at a table in the library checking logs and handing out prizes. I used to read all the time growing up. Sadly that has basically fallen off my radar, aside from my monthly magazine subscriptions that come in, but we both know that doesn’t really ‘count’ as reading in the grand scheme of things.
Hope both the boys enjoy the reading program, their summer off & that Hayden’s reading achievement testing goes well when the time comes!
Thank you Erin!
