1 Year update on going #natural

September 24, 2012 by Ashley T

I realized a couple days before my birthday (yes this past Friday was my birthday) that the last time I had a relaxer was in September of 2011. Matter of fact, I think it was the weekend before my birthday! My official year anniversary of deciding to go natural is actually sometime in October but it been a little over a year since my last relaxer. Yay!

So of course I had to check out my growth. I scheduled an appointment with my friend’s hair dresser on my birthday to get my ends clipped and to see how my hair is doing. I definately needed the ends clipped.. really bad actually. I have a bad habit of waiting too long to get my hair done because I just don’t like spending the money. Anyway, we decided to have to straighten to see the length. My hair is so much longer in the back then it is in the front but its healthy and I like it. I plan on continuing to do what I do and make sure I head to the hair dresser to get my ends clipped every other month or so to make sure my hair is growing the way it should be. Wanna see it?

Yes, this is the instagram photo I posted on my birthday after I got my hair done. Its a little bit shorter than the last time I posted about my hair (of course because I got my ends clipped) but I am well on my way to hopefully have it longer than I ever have. I have been wearing my hair in twists lately. I have the time to do them sometimes and they last me a couple of days before I start itching so much I have to unravel them to scratch. I also don’t use a whole lot of product so that I don’t have to shampoo every single time I wash my hair. You would think its weird but its not… say Sunday night I want to do twists… but by Wednesday, I’m tired of it and want to wash and go… I can just use conditioner and do the “go” part.. so much faster and my hair is pretty much clean. Plus my boys keep me busy so sometimes I just need the ease. I’m hoping to post a video soon but don’t get too happy… I am not a hair blogger and can only really show you what I’ve learned from other bloggers. Right now, my favorite person to watch is SimplYounique. My hair isn’t as long as hers so I can’t do everything she does but I love to watch all the awesome hair styles she comes up with. Do you have a favorite?

Happy Belated Birthday! I put off getting trims and taking care of my hair too. With 4 kids I have no time for regular maintenance on myself lol.

Belated Happy Birthday and your hair looks great! Makes you feel so good after getting it done but I can relate to what you're saying. I am the same way with not wanting to spend the money to get it done
