This year, I wanted to involve myself (as well as my family) in something to help our community. I never feel like I do enough so I decided to step out of my comfort zone this year (and since I turn 30 this year!) and sign up for some races and stuff.
I really wanted to do a mud run but the first one I found happens to be on a week I’ll be at BloggyCon. I was so upset when I figured it out. So a friend and myself found another to sign up for. Its called the 5K Dirty Girl mud run. My favorite part is that all proceeds go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, which I always want to support. You have an adventure obstacle course that you travel through while doing it through mud. I am not a fan of mud but I’ve seen pictures and I think it would be super fun. I have yet to register for it though because I’m not sure if I’ll have the chance to do it. I’m on the fence.

I am excited about the mud run but I think I am more excited about the Columbus Color Palooza. This “run” supports the American Cancer Society and my whole family will be participating. The color palooza is a 3 mile run/walk where you get blasted with a rainbow of colors every 15 minutes! I plan on dressing everyone including the boys in as much while as possible so we are covered from head to toe in every color they have available. My husband and I believe that the boys with probably enjoy it more than we will! I found out about this from another Columbus blogger and created a team for my friends to join as well. I think it will be a whole lot of fun!
I’m still looking for more things to get involved in that are not in my comfort zone. What are you doing this year to shake it up?

The Color Palooza sounds like a ton of fun. I do need to get out of my comfort zone more. I have been opening myself up to some new experiences..not quite as big as you are doing but challenging and scary at first but worth it!
Those sound like a lot of fun! I’ve heard of Color Runs before and they look like fun. My four year old asked if we could go last year. 🙂 Good for you for getting out there!
I am finding joy in little things like gardens and cooking and eating healthier but yours sound fun, too!
There is a color run here, but I’m not even in enough shape to walk it this year.
That’s great that you signed up for a race! I am stepping out of my comfort zone by signing up for longer races. I completed four 5k races last year so now I am signed up for an 8k and a 10k. I had the opportunity to do a mud run but my husband has his ironman race that weekend so I am still looking for one. I look forward to hearing how the color run goes and seeing pictures!
