My kids love to play with things like play-do and anything that could be mold-able. But I hate going out to buy all those things and the they dry out and we have to buy more. The boys are known to leave things out. So, I happily searched for a way to make something at home but didn’t really find anything. However, we went to our local science museum and they had a experiement that let you make Flubber. After seeing how easy it is and realizing I had all the ingredients at home, my sons and I made some outselves. So, here is the recipe to make Flubber. Enjoy and make as many colors as you can!
Homemade Flubber

Ingredients:
- 3/8 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup Elmer’s glue
- Liquid food coloring
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon Borax (in pretty much any laundry aisle)
Directions:
Place 2 bowls on the table. In the first bowl, mix the cold water, glue and food coloring.

In the second bowl, mix the hot water and borax. Make sure it is well mixed.

Slowly pour the 2 mixtures together and stir. Drain off and access water and let sit for about 5 minutes.

Drain off the rest of the water then fold the Flubber into itself so that it is no longer wet. Your hands might get messy but it comes right out.
After playing, store in a plastic zip-top bag.

I made 4 batches originally with each color I had of food coloring. You can also mix the colors (like I did in the pictures) and create your own colors.
*Note: I use Borax with my laundry detergent and love it. It is a natural mineral (sodium tetraborate) and shouldn’t be ingested.
