I was given passes to a screening before the movie was released. All opinions are my own.
I remember when I was little, we would all watch Dumbo. I thought it was the cutest movie. I mean, who doesn’t love a flying elephant that proves to everyone how special he is?
Imagine my surprise when I realized that my 8 year old had no idea what the movie is about. We hadn’t shown him the original and here we were, on our way to see the new one. I’m glad you don’t have to see the old one to understand today’s version but here is a quick synopsis:
Struggling circus owner Max Medici enlists a former star and his two children to care for Dumbo, a baby elephant born with oversized ears. When the family discovers that the animal can fly, it soon becomes the main attraction — bringing in huge audiences and revitalizing the run-down circus. The elephant’s magical ability also draws the attention of V.A. Vandevere, an entrepreneur who wants to showcase Dumbo in his latest, larger-than-life entertainment venture.

Our Review?
Noah loved it. His favorite part was watching Dumbo interact with the children. I loved that it kept his interest the entire time the move was on. Even at 8, sometimes Noah can’t sit through a movie but this one kept his attention.
As for me, I liked the movie. This one had more depth than the original because you got the back story on the family that worked with Dumbo. I love how the elephant interacts with the family as well.. as if the children became his replacement family. I hated Dumbo being kept away from his mother. Got me right in the heart.
Overall, I think it is a good movie, especially if you love Tim Burton movies. And yes, you can totally tell it is a Tim Burton movie. Follow Dumbo on social media if you’d like to see more about the movie before seeing it: Facebook and Twitter.
