Last year I started meal planning… and lost interest quickly. Not sure why but I think it was just because my heart wasn’t in it. I have so much to do all the time that I just didn’t see how spending hours planning my meals would help. Why I didn’t, I’m not sure because when I picked it back up a couple of weeks ago, it helped so much more than you know.
We have a lot going on right now and add in trying to eat healthier AND going to the gym at least 3 days a week into it and you’ll have our life. However, I was having problems remembering what I was planning on cooking and quickly lost my steam. So earlier this week I went on a search through pinterest (yes, I am a pinterest nut) to find the perfect meal planning sheet to help me with my plans. Since I get paid every other week, I have to plan on 2 weeks at a time. It seems hard but it just takes a little bit more time than just a week.
Thanks to the blog: Happy-Go-Lucky, I have a small binder with my weekly lists that fits into my daily bag so I can’t forget it when I’m headed to the grocery store. I can make sure I don’t forget anything I need for each recipe and do all my prep work before heading to bed. I am horrible at remembering to do the prep work so I end up having to do another recipe and messing up my plan. I also end up making a trip or 2 to the grocery store during the week because I forgot to buy something. Its annoying and wastes gas.. not to mention that the stores where I save the most money are the farthest away. Doesn’t help me in my goal of saving money.
The list above is next week’s meal plan. I hope to be able to share some new recipes with you as well, based on the plan above. And hopefully keep this going for a long time coming. So tell me, what do you do to help plan your meals?
