Throughout the pandemic many of us have found it difficult keeping on top of our home. This is completely understandable. The spread of coronavirus and Covid-19 around the world, alongside government guidelines that have been put in place to try to slow the spread of the virus, have caused major changes to our daily routines. Those of us with little ones have found that they’re no longer in school and are learning from home instead.
Those of us who went out to work are finding that we’re now working remotely. We’re being advised to spend all of our free time at home rather than heading out. So, many of us are seeing our families spending almost 24 hours a day within our own properties. This, of course, is likely to end in more mess, clutter, and general disarray. There are ways to keep on top of this though. Here are a few suggestions that should help you to return your home to its usual neat and tidy state.

Declutter
Start out by decluttering. Chances are there are plenty of items in your home that you either don’t want or don’t need – especially if you have kids who are prone to bringing all sorts back into the house with them. Decluttering is a simple process that will create a whole lot more space in your home and leave everything feeling much more clear and tidy. But how do you get started? Well, you can start out by organising what you want to keep and what you don’t.
If you haven’t used something for the past year or so and it has no real sentimental value, chances are you can get rid of it. If it is of value, sell it. If you don’t want to sell it but someone else might want it, give it to a charity store. If you can’t sell or donate it, try, where possible, to recycle it. This will help the planet.
Clear Occasional Items to Storage
If you have items and belongings that only come out on special occasions throughout the year, you probably don’t want to throw them away and replace them each year, but they do also take a lot of space up in your home throughout the months that they aren’t being used. Why not place them away in storage? Some facilities now have storage smart entry which allows you to easily access your belongings as and when suits you!
Do a Deep Clean
Once you’re home is clear, it’s time to make it clean. Dedicate a whole day to deep cleaning every room in your home. Clean and vacuum the carpets. Wipe down the surfaces. Polish and dust. Do everything that needs to be done to leave your home sparkling clean.
These steps are simple and straightforward, but each will take you a little bit closer to returning your home to a shiny, clean, and clutter-free state! Hopefully, you’ll get there sooner rather than later!
