12 days from today, my Hayden will have his first day of Kindergarten.
Yep, my baby… the reason I started this blog is starting his journey on August 27th. We have orientation sometime next week (since school starts for everyone else on August 22nd) but he will spend a full day at our home elementary school that day. As I write this, I’m in tears. I’ve watched him grow from a tiny 6lb 9oz baby into this smart boy. He is a great big brother and I can’t wait until he can help Noah do more things. I can’t wait to see the first time he reads a book to his brother. The closer we get, the more emotional I get.
However, the last couple of months have made me a little bit worried. We registered him for school in May and made sure we turned in everything as soon as possible. About a week from being fully registered, I got a voice mail from a nurse saying that Hayden was sick. Um, first of all, Hayden isn’t in school yet and second of all, he doesn’t go to your school! I’m glad I caught the mistake of the nurse BUT it made me a little bit leery about what was going on in the school district. How is it that you didn’t know you pulled up the wrong student? Mistakes happen so I just let it go… until last Friday. I received the paperwork for school saying that class he was in and everything. However, it said he was going to be in the first grade. How is it that your system put a kindergartner in the first grade! I had to wait until Monday to call the school and it was almost like the secretary was trying to convince me my child should be in the First grade. Hm. I didn’t like that at all.
I know the school is great and I’m trying to get them and the school district the benefit of the doubt. I was told they changed systems so maybe it was a system glitch. However, they will be watched closely, as I’m sure a lot of you mothers out there do. I am entrusting my son’s life in their hands. I hope they are trustworthy.
