My husband and I have vowed to do a great thing for our family and start eating healthier as I’ve said before. While looking for replacements for what we already eat, we came across the label “gluten free” on many products. Like 78% of the population, we had no idea what it meant to be gluten free and what a burden it was on those people who have to follow that diet. If you don’t know what a gluten free diet is, A gluten free diet is a diet that excludes the protein gluten. Gluten is found in grains such as wheat, barley and rye.

We have seen Udi’s products in the store but we’re sure of the taste because neither one of us had tasted anything that was gluten free. I was able to be a part of a briefing by the Udi vice president going into details about how Udi’s became the #1 gluten free brand in America. I learned during this briefing that gluten is hidden in all types of products. My favorite brand of soy sauce has gluten in it! It really makes you think.

We also got the chance to try a bunch of their products. My husband liked the bread. He’s the grain guy and I knew he’d be the one to eat the bread. The boys pretty much ate all the granola bars we got. I had one and it was pretty tasty. I could taste the difference between it and another brand granola bar that I’m used to. But that didn’t mean it didn’t still taste delicious. The granola was also equally delicious. The snicker doodle cookies were mine. OMGoodness they were delicious. The chips were a perfect after work snack for me. They reminded me of sun chips.
I ate the muffins (both the double vanilla and harvest crunch) for breakfast. My favorite was the harvest crunch. But I wanted to see if I could make a meal with no gluten in it. I’m sure I’ve done it in the past without thinking about it. But I created some gluten free breakfast burritos and they were delicious. The recipe was quick and easy and good for you. I can’t wait to make them again.

I haven’t heard of this brand. I will keep an eye out for it when I am shopping next. It seems so crazy that the food everyone eats is no longer good for you. So many changes!! It is something that will take time to learn for sure!
