Autumn is the season that one (or all) of us gets sick. My husband and son have allergies, school is back in session, and with the weather changing, there is no telling what will happen. I rarely get sick but a couple weeks ago, I ended up with strep. I took antibiotics to clear it but I still had congestion and a sore throat by the end of the day.
It took me a while to figure out that the reason for my sore throat reappearing every night was because of the moisture being sucked out of the air. When you turn on the heat in the fall, the forced air dries out your air, slightly drying you out. Our room is the farthest away from the furnace so it tends to be colder. Before we go to bed, I turn on a space heater (that only runs until we’re at the temp we want) and the humidifier. While the space heater turns off before we go to sleep, the humidifier runs all night and is super quiet. I even caught my husband moving it closer to him last night because he was starting to get stuffy. It has obviously helped him as well.
