These Are The Most Common Pests You’ll Find At Home

December 2, 2020 by Ashley T

There are few things in life worse than realizing that your home is now playing host to a bunch of unwanted pests. After all, your home is supposed to be the place where you feel comfortable and safe and few things are going to ruin that faster than having to deal with a bunch of creepy crawlies all over the place. Of course, if you’re trying to find a way to deal with pests, you’ve got to know what they are. With that in mind, here are some of the most common household pests that you may have to deal with at some point.

Cockroaches

Of all of the bugs that you might have in your home, cockroaches are the ones that make the majority of people’s skin truly crawl. A lot of this comes down to the fact that cockroaches often carry a lot of different diseases. Combine that with the fact that they love to hide in the warm areas of your home like your kitchen and often come out after dark to feed on any food that’s been left out for them and it’s not hard to see why they disgust so many people.

Rats

Despite being perhaps some of the least unpleasant looking pests that you might get in your house, don’t let their cute look fool you. Not only do rats carry all kinds of diseases and have droppings that can spread a lot of airborne allergens, but they can also chew through things like electrical cables, something that not only causes problems for the way your home functions day-to-day but can also be a major fire hazard.

Termites

Of all the pests that you might come into contact with, termites can often be the most expensive. This is because, despite what termites look like and their tiny size, they can cause huge amounts of damage to many homes by chewing through the wooden structures that actually keep the places standing. The worst part of this is that the vast majority of home insurance policies don’t cover damage done by termites as standard. This is one situation where paying to get rid of them is always going to be a whole lot cheaper than letting them run wild in your home.

The reality of all of these pests is that, while they can cause a problem and are certainly pretty unpleasant to have to deal with, they are an issue that actually be solved a whole lot quicker than a lot of people expect. The best thing that you can do is just to get on the phone with a professional.

Pest control is something that is far better left to the experts than handled by you yourself. Not only can an exterminator find both lethal and non-lethal methods of ridding your home of a whole lot of different pests, but they can often give you the advice you need on how to make sure that you don’t end up having to deal with them again.
