Tips that will help you to Organize your Home More than Ever Before

September 15, 2021 by Ashley T

Do you feel as though you are fed up with living in disorganized chaos? Maybe you like the idea of having everything organized, but you don’t have any idea where to start. Either way, there are things that you can do to try and get everything you need in order, faster than ever.

Declutter Before you Organize

Before you can even think about organizing your home, you have to think about decluttering it. If you have clutter everywhere, you won’t be able to see the forest for the trees, which will put you in an endless cycle of frustration. You may find that you end up moving junk from one area to another, which is the last thing you need. Decluttering everything thoroughly will help you make your home way easier to organize, and you may even find it easier to keep it this way. If you want to declutter, then ask yourself, do you love the item? Do you need it? If you say no to both questions, then let it go. If you are trying to organize your home because you are relocating, then it may be a good idea to hire a storage unit so that you can clear out clutter before you begin to organize everything.

Clear Surfaces

When you begin to organize, you need to ensure that you have as many clear spaces as possible. You should make sure that you store things out of sight where possible. The more stuff you have on your countertops, your tables, or even your other surfaces, the more there will be for you to clean and sort. This is the last thing that you need, so you have to make sure that you deal with this as soon as possible.  The other issue with having too many things out is that it will act as a clutter magnet. You may find that you attract even more stuff to the area, and this is the last thing you need.

Identify Danger Zones

Every home will have clutter hotspots. You may find that things end up being dumped and then sorted for later use. The problem is that you’ll never end up getting round to sorting it, and this will really make things more difficult for you. If you want to help yourself, you need to take a walk around your home and look out for clusters of clutter. Pretend that you are a visitor to your home and attempt to see things through their eyes. Taking a video on your phone will also help as it may help to alert you to clutter that you cannot normally see.

When you have done this, you need to think about where you spend most of your home. Where do things tend to accumulate? Do you have a lot of mail lying around? Maybe you have bags that are all dumped by the front door, but you don’t know how to sort them. Either way, you’ll soon find that things fall into place by working on the danger zones.
