My son’s first day of kindergarten.
I started this blog as a journal about my son who was turning 1 the day after I wrote my first post. Hayden Alexander is my first little boy.. the most independent little boy I know. This picture is from over 4 years ago… during his birthday party when he was coloring.
And this is a picture of him today. Heading into school for his first day of kindergarten.
I am so proud of my son. So proud! He is so excited to be going to school and I’m excited to be waiting for him when he gets out of school today. I promise not to be sitting in my car crying while I wait for school to get out. I promise not to embarrass him completely when they let the kids out of school by kissing him or being a mom. I promise to ask him how his day was when we are safely in the car. I promise to let him call his meemaw (my mom) to tell her how his day went. I also promise to be there all year to help him with his homework so he can learn what he needs to move on to the next year. I promise to help him learn to read so by the end of the school year, he can read me a book before bed. I also promise to cry whenever that happens.
I always knew that being a mom was hard and this is one of the hardest things I had to adjust to. I wish I was there with him, holding his hand. But I can’t be there. What I can be is supportive and that’s exactly what I will do. Now excuse me while I cry cause my oldest son is in school! Ah! 🙂
