Life as a mom means little time for things such as interior decorating. You have your hands full with diaper changes, feedings, and laundry. However, you can quickly get a new look for your home using these three ideas that can completely alter the look and feel of your living room. Try using interior green spaces, creating an open living plan, and adding color with new wall paint or an accent painting.
Green Spaces
Bring the outside indoors by incorporating nature. Add potted plants with festive, colorful blooms, just make sure not to bring in the bugs. String faux pine greenery along the fireplace mantel. Paper one wall with a garden or tree motif. If you have a large, floor-to-ceiling door or window, then make sure its view remains unobscured. This connects your landscape to your interior and the potted plants to the exterior. And to complete this, make sure your landscape is well set, weeds and ice are removed. Even snow plowing for businesses can do this for your office space.
Open Plan Living
Those large windows here come in even more handy if you have an open floor plan. One of the keys to making this type of plan work well is by using light to your advantage. This can be natural light coming through the windows or strategic light placement throughout the room. Either way, work to highlight conversation corners in the room.
What are conversation corners, you ask? These are areas you construct out of furniture by organizing distinct spaces for conversation, reading, enjoying snacks. Using this method can give you multiple mini-rooms out of one vast space. You can do this by simply rearranging furniture.
Of course, open plan living isn’t for everyone, so you need to really consider if you’re the right person for this kind of living space. You can install divider walls if you decide that an open floor plan doesn’t work for you.
Add Interest
Adding color to the room can break up the open floor plan. This creates distinctive areas, whether you hang or paint a mural, paint the whole room a solid color, or paint only an accent wall. Experiment with adding a bold wall to a neutral room. Mix shades like lime green and sea blue. You can also add interest to a room with the addition of a decorative fireplace. A fireplace is great because it adds a nice, homey look to the room while also being functional.
You can easily craft a new look for your living room using just one of these simple tricks. Green your spaces, rearrange the furniture so that you can create an open space, and add color to the walls.
