Its been almost 7 months.. 7 months since I left my completely stable job of 9 years and opted to stay at home with my boys and work on growing my two businesses. Yes, I said two. This blog is of course my business but I am also a photographer. I enjoy doing both and while I miss the adult interaction of the previous job, I wouldn’t trade this for the world.
The first couple of months after I took that leap of faith were hard but fun. It was hard to get used to not seeing that check every 2 weeks. Essentially, we became a one income family: Not that I don’t make any money with what I do… however, a large chunk of money was no longing coming in. My husband was now the primary money-maker and I personally think that put a little more stress on him then I knew about.
After a couple of months, we finally didn’t feel like it was so hard. My husband started her first semester in grad school, Hayden started the 2nd grade and even Noah started part-time preschool.

It was a huge learning experience switching from a full time working mom to a work at home soccer mom (literally). I guess I should say basketball mom now. Stay turned to learn what I’ve been up to my help turn my home into a well-oiled machine.

I am so happy for you!! It is hard to change no matter what. Sometimes less money isn’t that important when other things are spent with great memories too. Pro’s and con’s for sure! Thanks for sharing. The moments you spend with your family will be remembered for ever too!!
Thank you!
I remember when we first started talking about you leaving the “outside” grown up world to start developing your photography business, spend more time with the boys, and work more on this blog. You were so scared and nervous, and you kept crunching numbers to make sure everything would work out. I also remember how you almost said forget it. I am so proud of you for going through with it and being able to experience your boys more. I’ve also seen both your businesses grow. So many new and good things are in store for you my friend! Can’t wait to see what else you’ll be bringing along!
